Booooo…  hsssss… :( I’m a lighter note HAPPY FEBRUARY! We’re not vegetarians any more. :P But we still plan on eating like we are.  We’re only going to be eating meat on our weigh in days, and only if we lost or maintained our weight from the week prior.

  1. Hey Spidey! Happy February to you too :D

Can I ask why you decided to give up or reduce your meat intake?? Just curious. Maybe you covered this somewhere previously and I missed it?

Even though you aren’t losing the weight the way you had hoped yet, how are you feeling physically? Have you lost inches.. are your clothes looser? These are a better indication of how well things are going. Sometimes the actual pounds come off later….. in my experience anyway.

It was done for more of a cleaning, to get away from all of the gunk I usually put into my body. That was the main reason. I never really felt any different, but the craving I would normally have were gone. That was nice. As for my body, not really any change, other than a less bloated belly, and swelling everywhere else that associate with too much sugar and other crap. ;)

Another unexpected side effect from eating the way I was, was the fact that we saved a lot of money. :P It was a very simple/cheap way to eat. That’s another reason I’m going to be sticking to it for the most part.

  2. You’re getting there, albeit slowly, but at least there is progress going on. :)

As for me and diets, the only one I’ve ever lost weight on was a protein diet. Meat, meat, and more meat. I couldn’t do vegetarian even if I had to. I hate leaves.

Same here, I hate leaves/grass, but you might be amazed it you ever tried it. It was amazingly easy. My body was very satisfied with the simple yet healthy diet I put together for myself. I wasn’t plagued by cravings, and I didn’t run around feeling hungry. Of course I didn’t really lose any weight either. I’m mostly to blame for that though. No real effort in, no real results out. I’m a lazy bum, and that’s what gotta change more than anything.

I’ve also had great/fast results with a high protein diet in the past. And while I didn’t have actual “cravings”, I found that I really missed having more carbs in my life. As much as I’ve always considered myself to be a carnivore, I found it way easier to go with out meat than to cut way back on the carbs. Weird!!! But true. :)

  3. Happy February! And back to meat!
I have really cut down on the portion size of meat. I still eat it every day but about 3/4 less than I used to.
What a savings on the grocery bill too!

Oh man, we saves all kinds of money in the last month. Not only was I eating meat on a daily basis before, but we were doing way too much eating out. That’s just another reason why I’m not totally bucking the vegetarian plan. My diet was simple yet satisfying, and cheap, cheap, cheap. ;)

Whatever I end up doing in the future, it’s gotta include more physical activity. That’s where I always seem to come up short, and it makes a word of difference.

  4. Hey Spidey! Sounds like the veggie thing was a success. Made you full and satisfied and was easier on the wallet. Not to mention cutting back on your cravings? Keep up the good work. You and Bun are doing great. For many years I just stopped paying attention to my weight- just too disappointing and what ended up happening is that my weight skyrocketed! I am on board now with keeping an eye on it- it can ebb and flow a bit, fine- just as long as I don’t gain like a wild woman…. I don’t want to get out of control again. Good luck to you and Bun on your journey!

    Thank you, JQ. :)

  5. hang in there you both!

there are some vegetables i don’t like, but mostly we love veggies here, and only oats porridge for breakfast, and lots of fruits. i’m teaching kj to eat fish too, he doesn’t like it before. we’ve cut down on red meat too.

i think as long as you’re eating healthy, you’re on the right track even when results are quite slow. :)

Thanks Odette. I need to work on embracing that line of thought as well.

  6. It sounds like it’s definitely working then…. I need to eat more veggies and fruit. I love them, I just forget to grab them as a snack sometimes…

Nuts and fruits (especially dried fruits) are easy snacks to take with you anywhere. My favorites have been combining the peanuts with the raisins (think peanut butter and jelly, yum) and the oven roasted almonds (seasoned with sea salt). Good stuff. :P

  7. Hey, Peter! Come by my place, please. I have a small token for you. :)

Small token my butt. :P That thing is huge, and heart warming. ;) Thank you. :)

  8. Wow, Spidey – sounds like this exercise really did help you refine your tastebuds and make you appreciate simpler foods more and that is a step in the right direction. My main weight loss problem (aside from medication problems) is that I either eat smartly or exercise. But I really need to do BOTH to lose weight. :) I’m working on it!

Same here. I either do one, the other, or neither. This week it’s been neither. I should have an update up tomorrow. After celebrating HAPPY FEBRUARY I fell right back into my old habits. Fast food, soda. Crap, crap, and more crap. :( I’m thinking I should go back to being a vegetarian. Then if I could just get to exercising I’d really be doing good.
